Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again. Luke 6:31
The first sentence does not stand alone, but is inextricably tied to the second.
If we want, “good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over”, we must give, “good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over.”
We’re looking for the miracle-grow on our giving… but are we willing to give in proportion to our need?
For the widow woman, “good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over” was two mites. For God, “good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over” is beyond our comprehension.
